Ready, Reset, Go!
A Fashionably Late Fresh Start
I know, I know—it's basically the end of February, and here I am finally leaning into the whole new year, new me thing. At this point, it's more like new year, same me, but trying slightly harder. But hey, better late than never, right?
Lately, I’ve felt a little off—balancing my new identity as a mother, going back to work, and trying to find some creative inspiration again. So, I’m hitting the reset button, not with some massive life overhaul, but with small, doable changes that will (hopefully) make me feel more like myself again.
Here’s what I’m changing:
1. Going to Bed by 10 PM (Seriously, This Time)
Sleep is something I've always loved, but now I cherish it even more. As a self-proclaimed professional night owl, I am the most awake and productive at night. But now as a new mom, I need to prioritize sleep whenever I can. My goal is to be in bed, lights out, by 10 PM. No more “just one more episode” or mindlessly scrolling TikTok until I wake up with my phone smacking me in the face. My friends used to joke and call me "10pm Amy" because I would always say I have to go home now to go to bed at 10.
2. Walking Every Day
The weather is finally getting nice again. So with that, I’m committing to a daily walk—even if it’s just a quick loop around the block or a stroll to grab a matcha latte. Fresh air, movement, and a moment to myself? Non-negotiable.
3. Limiting My Screen Time
I don’t need to know what a random stranger in Ohio ate for breakfast. Time to set app limits, stop doom-scrolling, and be more present in real life. (I will still be taking cute pics of Baby C, obviously.)
4. Eating Whole Foods
I’ve already started cutting out processed junk with my elimination diet, so I’m keeping that momentum going—more real, whole foods, less stuff that comes in crinkly plastic packaging. I do miss my boba though. (and funnily recently last year I did try my first crumbl)
5. Scheduling My Health Checkups (Adulting Level 1000)
Annual physical? Eye exam? Dental cleaning? All getting booked. Because taking care of myself isn’t just about what I eat and how I move—it’s also about making sure everything is running smoothly under the hood. This is something that is such a simple reset task yet often ignored or put off.
6. Decluttering (Aka, Finally Tackling That Drawer)
I am a big believer that your environment affects your mood and your day, so I’m slowly working through small decluttering projects throughout the home—starting with my closet. At 9 months postpartum, I think it's finally time to accept that those pair of skinny jeans I was optimistically trying to make work will, indeed, not work anymore. I don't want it to be too daunting, so I like to do a little bit of tidying in a different 'zone' of my house each day.
7. Doing More of What Makes Me Happy
Reading, journaling, baking, discovering new cafes—if it sparks joy, I’m making time for it. Because resetting my life isn’t just about fixing what’s wrong, it’s about adding more of what’s right.
8. Giving Myself Grace (Because Perfection Is Overrated)
Some days, I’ll crush my habits. Other days, I’ll eat cookies in bed and ignore my phone limits. And that’s fine. Progress > perfection.
So, if you’re also feeling a little out of sync, consider this your reminder that it’s never too late for a reset. Let’s embrace the better-late-than-never energy together. Hope this has inspired you to also introduce some little upgrades to your day!

I've also reluctantly taken a portion of my closet to Goodwill (sadly pre-covid April will never be back). The final boss for me is my stationery shelves though...
